ABERYSTWYTH, WALES
Aberystwyth University
Aberystwyth University first opened in 1872 in the Welsh seaside town after which it is named. On the west coast of Wales between Cardigan Bay and the Cambrian Mountains, students will become part of a friendly, outward-looking community where the far horizon inspires ambition and aspiration. The university’s Penglais campus was the first in wales to achieve a Green Flag Award for the high quality of its environment, while Aberystwyth itself was awarded the title of ‘Greatest Town’ by the Academy of urbanism in 2015 for its shops, restaurants, nightlife, and cosmopolitan atmosphere.
In addition to helping students to develop discipline-specific knowledge and critical thinking, courses at Aberystwyth aim to equip students with the life skills they will need for their careers after graduation. The institution has been named Welsh University of the year in the times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2020, and is the only university in the UK to have been awarded University of the Year for Teaching Quality by the Times and Sunday Times, Good University Guide (2018 + 2019) for two consecutive years.
